From fearful to fearLess one phobia at a time

ONE YEAR TO FREEDOM

Ever been afraid? We all have at some point in our lives, and the next twelve months of my life will be dedicated to tackling my worst fears head on. My aim? To eradicate these phobias and reclaim the areas of my life where fear has managed to setup a stronghold. In one year I not only aim to have recognized my fears, but to become fearLess, finally!

Here are my top 12 fears

1. Fear of sex
The act itself and specifically being assaulted.
2. Fear of driving
A car or crashing into another car.
3. Fear of the heights
Anything that involves bridges, ski lifts, climbing etc.
4. Fear of drowning
I do not know how to swim in deep water and take the warning that you can drown in 1ft of water very seriously!
5. Fear of pain
Just thinking about it makes me shutter! I steer clear of any pain inducing activities such as sports and am the wimp that always has Band-Aids handy!
6. Fear of worms
Creepy. Crawly. What else is there to say? The book How to Eat Fried Worms scarred me!
7. Fear of the dark/the horror genre
Yeah yeah, for babies right? Oh no, the dark is just that, a place in which I can see nothing, and that raises my blood pressure! Call me the night light lady!
8. Fear of becoming morbidly obese
Making a commitment to a healthy diet and lifestyle has to become a better priority in my life.
9. Fear of singing in public
I don’t mind humming a tune here or there within earshot of another person, or busting it out in the shower, but in front of an audience? Yikes!
10. Fear of storms
Specifically thunder and lightning storms
11. Fear of growing old alone
I would prefer to grow old with my family and friends close
12. Fear of success
I have become great at sabotaging most efforts to move forward in many areas of my life. This blog hopes to address this.

How it works

I will assign one fear to each month for the next 12 months, doing weekly activities that directly involve me with my fear. For example, to tackle my fear of heights, you might just find me on a bridge or two, or climbing something way to high for wingless humans!

Share any of these fears? Feel free to join the journey.
